Four of the thirty six views of Eiffel Tower, published in 1902 by the illustrator Henri Rivière.

I first came across these works as part of the exhibition on Japanese prints in the era of Impressionism at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco last January. Rivière’s homage to Hokusai is as powerful despite featuring a technological icon rather of a natural feature.
