This is fascinating in a whole bunch of ways. The most obvious is the coastline: this is pre-landfill, so First really is the first left on Market after the shore, while Sansome doesn’t even get as far as California and many of the streets extend to wharves. (The first road to extend most of the way that the current streets do is Kearny.)
Central Wharf is interesting too, because that’s now Commercial Street, not Central; appropriately so, as it’s far narrower than the old (or even new) name would suggest. There’s also no Columbus cutting diagonally across “Little China”. That might be harder to spot than you’d think, since the map is aligned with the SoMa grid, rather than the more conventional grid north of Market, so it’s at an angle to north (and the usual pronounced Columbus cut would be much nearer to a vertical line here).
Well, I thought it was interesting, anyway.
