“Wii Music is kind of like the anti-Rock Band. While both games are based on the experience of playing music in a band with your friends, that’s where the similarities stop. Rock Band is a traditional videogame: Each song is a chart full of notes to hit, and if you miss one or hit the wrong button, you hear a squelchy effect that means you failed. At the end of each song, you’re given a score that says how well you did.”
This sounds fantastic. Much better than feeling like you’ve let down your friends when you first try to play the drums and realise there’s a bloody foot pedal, which when you use it makes muscles you didn’t know you had hurt all down the back of your lower leg, and that you have to hit it in time with the drumming, and oh no you’re out and they have to rescue you. The shame.
Edit: I’m told Rock Band 2 has a “can’t fail” mode. This is good.
