A clever idea by Joshua Distler: making CD covers from the audio waveforms of the tracks.

Hurrah to Rob for taking what was a nice (and widely ffffound/blogged) idea and making it into a piece of software.
I’m happy to have acted (in a small way) as a midwife: when mentioning this on IRC, I mentioned that making CD covers was a bit of an anachronism, and thought that adding waveform images as “cover art” for MP3s that otherwise lacked any might be a nice idea. Rob took that, and now there’s something that does most of what’s required. (I should read up on the state of the art in ID3 art tag editing in Ruby, and submit a patch.) Still, all the hard work is his, and well done on the release.
