Photographer Robert McCabe’s best shot, complete with a description:

This was my first encounter with penguin psychology: I was impressed by how human they were, in their curiosity and in the way they walked. He looks like a businessman carrying a briefcase, or someone wearing a burqa.
It would be impossible to take a picture like this today: there are now firm rules about getting near penguins. Basically, you have to keep well clear.

“Radiating charisma on a 23ºF morning, a three-foot-tall emperor penguin strikes a post on the pack ice of the Amundsen Sea. The photographers were taking a month-long cruise aboard a Russian icebreaker.” (via, via)

Apartm.net:
The camera at the Apartm.net is less interesting than the flash. The flash for the camera is three Alien Bees strobes totaling 1280 watts of power. We normally use them on a 9-foot seamless backdrop mounted on Manfrotto Autopoles in the office. “

Speaking to the Past, by Douglas Coupland; one of twenty-six covers from  Penguin Group (Canada)’s Flickr stream.
As introduced on their web site, the project uses book covers to speak to someone from 1935, on the occasion of 75 years of Penguin Books.

From Michael Bojkowski’s small but perfectly formed Sans Text Flickr set.
The original text is pretty grim, but this is a great photo, so this Sans Text thing really works here.
