Dr Land’s Latest Bit Of Magic: a Life article introducing the SX-70, Oct 27, 1972. I could quite happily post most of the pages of this article, but why don’t you go over to the Google Books site and just read the whole thing?

Polaroid Story

There’s a lot more at bestoflife; it’s a shame this one’s not in colour, though.

end of the year addendum to “end of an era” | Mrs. Deane:
In the British Journal of Photography of 18 June 1907, a photographer by the name of Nelson King Cherrill published his sketches for a proto-SX-70
I assume this is a modern redrawing of the plans, because it looks incredibly clean, especially when compared to the (badly reproced?) SX-70 patent image:

quote 22:04:03
“ Polaroid + Apple are holding up approval on Polaroid-like photo apps. So Instant will soon look like: http://twitpic.com/5ncxg. Thoughts? ”

The developers of Camerabag on Twitter. Hey, Polaroid, here’s an idea: if you want to make money of your “intellectual property”, how about letting people take pictures that look like Polaroids by using INSTANT FILM that you put in an INSTANT CAMERA? I reckon you could sell them for quite the profit! Oh, but wait

Bah humbug.

From the Unsaleable shop, this might as well be called the Overpriced Hipster Edition. Nice photo of a lorry though, isn’t it?
